Thuso Mbedu scoops nomination at inaugural HCA TV awards

Two times Emmy award nominee Thuso Mbedu scoops a nomination at the Hollywood Critics Association for her role on “The Underground Railroad”.

The star is nominated in the “Best Actress in a limited series” category along side Anya Taylor, Cynthia Erivo, Elizabeth Olsen, Kate Winslet, Michaela Coel and Zendaya.

The inaugural HCA TV Awards will be handed at a ceremony at the Avalon Hollywood on August 22.

Mbedu was last month nominated on several other awards for her role on “The Underground Railroad”.

Among the many awards she has been nominated in is the Dorian Awards as well as the Black Reel TV Awards.

She will be going head to head with Nicole Beharie, Michaela Coel, Cynthia Erivo and Tessa Thompson.

The winners for the Black Reel Awards will be announced on August 15, while the winners of the Dorian awards will be revealed on August 29.

Mbedu has also added her voice over sporadic unrest that have erupted in various parts of the country.

She took to Twitter to reveal her thoughts on the current volatile situation happening in the country.

Concerning the protests, Mbedu wrote: “The government was shortsighted in their stealing from the people for years.

“Our keyboard Warriors were shortsighted in their response to the observation of what seemed inevitable.

“The hungry people seem shortsighted in their looting and burning. There will be dire consequences.”

Since the arrest of former president Jacob Zuma, pro-Zuma protesters have made it their duty to cripple the country said reports.

They have burnt roads and vehicles and looted small and big businesses.

They have also damaged electricity and water pipes in some areas.
