We’re totally falling for Cara Frew The local singer-songwriter, Cara Frew chats to us about her blossoming music career.Has music always been a passion of yours?Yes, absolutely. I was seven years old when I told my mum I wanted to be a singer. Just like any other girl my age, I wanted to be like Britney Spears. I’ve also been influenced by Eartha Kitt, Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse, Lana Del Rey and Ellie Goulding. Why do you love it so much?Music gives me the opportunity to connect with people and places that I wouldn’t otherwise be able to. It’s able to speak to people in a language that they understand, it has a healing power and it brings people togetherDid your parents support your career choice?I’m extremely fortunate to have very supportive parents. My father made sure I had a roof over my head and food on my plate when I was starting out and not making ends meet. My mum helps me with managing my business. You’ve worked with the likes of LOCNVILLE, Da Les and Black Coffee, what did you learn from those experiences?Every time I work with an artist, producer or writer, I pick up skills that I continue to use in following sessions. Everyone has a unique process and interpretation of music, I find it fascinating! Working with established artists also builds confidence which allows you to grow. What can we hear next?My EP Come Close To Me is now available on iTunes. The second single Invisible, which was produced by David Law, will be out in April and I just performed at Coachella this past weekend! What advice would you give someone looking to get into the music industry?Never give up, be focused and work hard. Connect with artists and other like-minded individuals who can help you with your process and who you can learn from. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and support you. Be determined. Talent is one thing, but determination is a whole other force to be reckoned with.Cara has recently released a video for her hit single Falling, watch it here.undefined For more celebrity chitchat, check out our talks with Karlie Kloss, Britney Spears, Ariana Grande, Vanessa Ntlapo and Bonang Matheba!
