'Becoming Karl' a docu series about the late visionary couturier Karl Lagerfeld

The story of the fashion kaiser will come to streaming.

Good news! We have the first glimpse of 'Becoming Karl', the documentary series that chronicles the life of fashion hero Karl Lagerfeld, who saved Chanel from ruin.

After the project was announced a year ago, today it's finally a reality. After the resounding success that Disney + obtained with 'Cristobal Balenciaga', the series inspired by the life of the renowned designer and founder of the maison, the streaming platform repeats the same formula with a project that will narrate the life of Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019.

What is 'Becoming Karl' about?

The series, which follows the line of a documentary, is an adaptation of the bestseller "Kaiser Karl" by author Raphaëlle Bacqué. According to the synopsis, through six episodes, the story will start from the 1970s to explore how that German boy who arrived in Paris became one of the most iconic figures in fashion. A ready-to-wear designer who falls madly in love with Jacques de Bascher.

The story puts the spotlight on the impeccable career of the German Kaiser who rescued Chanel.

Throughout 'Becoming Karl', we will witness the rivalry Lagerfeld had with Yves Saint Laurent, as well as his passage through the fashion world that led him to become the successor to Coco Chanel's legacy.
