If there is one thing Rihanna knows how to do, it is make an entrance. As Paris Fashion Week gets underway, the Fenty founder has already turned the French capital into her own style playground, moving between experimental tailoring, sheer textures, statement jewellery and the kind of high-glamour styling that has become synonymous with her wardrobe.
And while the shows are the main event, Rihanna’s looks are proving to be part of the spectacle.
Her Paris Fashion Week run began at Matières Fécales’ Spring/Summer 2027 show, where she arrived in a bronzed gold skirt suit covered in shimmering, fringed embellishment. The waist-cinching jacket was worn with a sheer black bra underneath, while glossy black Christian Louboutin heels completed the look. The shoes were developed in collaboration with Matières Fécales and featured the label’s distinctive curved shape.
It was maximalist Rihanna in her element: metallic, sensual and unapologetically dramatic. The look also felt right at home against Matières Fécales’ deliberately provocative approach to fashion. The Spring/Summer 2027 show was staged beneath Paris’s Monument à la République and centred representation, with all 99 models being people of colour.
Then came Dior, where Rihanna switched up the mood without losing the drama. She was among the stars seated front row for Jonathan Anderson’s Spring/Summer 2027 debut for the house, alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Rosalía and Cynthia Erivo.
The contrast in Rihanna’s Paris wardrobe is what makes it particularly fun to watch. Where Matières Fécales called for metallic fringe and sculptural shoes, Dior brought out a darker, more pared-back side of her style, allowing the accessories to take centre stage.
But Rihanna’s Paris fashion week wardrobe actually started before the official shows. Earlier in the month, she attended Céline Dion’s Paris concert, wearing a Ferragamo Autumn/Winter 2026 look by Maximilian Davis: a sheer black georgette blouse paired with a voluminous bronze satin pleated skirt. Black Amina Muaddi mules, angular sunglasses and her natural curls finished the look.
She had also been experimenting with a more relaxed side of Parisian dressing. For dinner at Lapérouse, Rihanna paired slouchy jeans with a ribbon-trimmed Dior jacket, proving that even denim can become a fashion-week moment when styled her way.
What ties the looks together is Rihanna’s ability to move between extremes without ever looking like she is trying too hard. One moment she is wrapped in gold fringe, the next she is working sheer black layers or oversized denim. There is no single Rihanna formula — and that is precisely what keeps her fashion moments worth watching.
With Paris Fashion Week running until 6 October, there is still plenty of time for another Rihanna look to enter the conversation. For now, though, the Fenty founder has made one thing clear: Paris is officially in its Rihanna era.
