Spring/Summer‘25 trends
The runways embraced a feminine aesthetic and a touch of nostalgia with a modern take. Fringing, check-print and florals are some of the standout trends that have been reinterpreted for the season and have our seal of approval.
Check, please!
Unexpectedly, this classic print has made its way back into our wardrobes — a 90s revival witha modern twist. Mainly associated with the unpretentious, rebellious spirit of grunge core(oversized fl annel shirts and ripped denim, anyone?) the latest iteration is far more stylish and deliberately styled. One of my favourite interpretations of this revitalised trend was showcased at the Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 2025 show: the check maxi skirt paired with a crop top and jacket(which was also one of my favourite looks of the entire show). The collection highlighted the softer side of check, steering clear of any harsh edges and instead focusing on fl owing lines and graceful draping. Once again, they proved that softness is being embraced this year.
Fringing
What elevates a garment from just clothing to a statement piece? Unexpected elements that add drama and excitement and an undeniable “wow factor” to your look. When applied to a dress or a skirt, fringing creates a captivating dance of movement and revelation. It plays a sophisticated game of hide-and-seek with the wearer's legs. As you walk, the delicate strands of fringe sway and move with your body, creating a fluid, almost ethereal effect. This motion allows for tantalizing hints of your legs to be glimpsed, adding a layer of sexiness to your look. The beauty of fringe is in its ability to animate the garment, making it a living extension of the wearer's movement and personality.
Romance Unlocked
Florals in Spring? Groundbreaking! The most iconic line in the movie The Devil Wears Prada from the famed Editor in Chief of Runway, Miranda Priestly, might not be impressed with the season's offerings but we certainly are. As much as women enjoy being perceived as strong and powerful there is an undeniable shift as we continue to gravitate to things that help us embrace the soft life and a more feminine aesthetic. The runways were filled with floral prints both subtle and loud with a variety of styles like the more boho chic silhouette that speaks to comfort and softness and sheer fabrics that offers a wispy ethereal vibe. Dolce & Gabbana offered up a more fitted and sexier silhouette than their counterparts. One thing is for sure, florals are back!
