South African composer, trumpeter, and vocalist Mandisi Dyantyis is ushering in a new musical era with the announcement of his third studio album, Intlambululo: Ukuhlambulula, set for release on October 24th. The project follows his celebrated releases Somandla (2018) and Cwaka (2021), the latter featuring a breakout hit that resonated deeply with fans nationwide and earned him widespread acclaim.
A spiritual evolution of his sound, Intlambululo: Ukuhlambulula, meaning “purification”, explores music as a path to renewal, healing, and self-discovery. Guided by the Xhosa proverb “Umntu yinkosi ukuzazi” (“one’s power lies in self-knowledge”), Dyantyis offers an emotionally layered body of work that moves between joy and sorrow, memory and imagination. Each track reflects his ongoing dialogue between tradition and innovation, with his voice and trumpet serving as vessels for introspection and hope.
Dyantyis’ journey from Gqeberha to the country’s biggest stages has been marked by artistic excellence and authenticity. With a background in jazz studies from the University of Cape Town, he has carved out a unique space in South Africa’s music scene blending gospel roots, jazz sophistication, and cultural storytelling into something unmistakably his own. Over the years, he has performed around the world, collaborated with theatre ensembles, and headlined sold-out concerts that have turned his live shows into near-spiritual experiences.
To celebrate the release, Dyantyis will embark on a national tour that includes performances in Johannesburg, Durban, East London, Gqeberha, and Cape Town. Audiences can expect new music performed live for the first time, revealing a more personal, reflective side of the artist.
For Dyantyis’ loyal fans, affectionately known as the Dyan, Intlambululo: Ukuhlambulula is more than an album; it’s a continuation of the connection they’ve built through years of shared emotion, community, and song.
