South African pop star Tyla kicked off her year with a standout performance of her hit song “Chanel” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. It marked her first performance of the year, and there could hardly have been a better stage than the iconic late-night show.
For the performance, Tyla wore Chanel SS26 Ready-to-Wear and delivered a visually striking moment on stage with a giant oversized prop shoe. She danced on top of it, behind it and next to it, turning the dramatic prop into a central part of her performance. With no dancers on stage, the focus remained entirely on her presence, movement and creativity.
Tyla brought her popular "Chanel" TikTok choreography to the performance, while also incorporating elements of South African dance move "Barcadi" that helped propel her to global stardom with “Water.” The fusion of global pop choreography and local dance styles highlighted her unique identity as an artist who bridges cultures through music and movement.
