A work of art

She’s a visual representation of art, and her passion is visible in how she shows up in the world. From her sense of fashion, to her form of expression, her take on art and music sets her apart as force.

She’s a consistent Queen

We’ve been following her journey since her debut EP, Nal’Ithemba’ in 2013 and we stan a consistent Queen. Her latest double-album, Platinumb Heart Open and Platinumb Heart Beating is iconic, and she describes the color of the sound as red and gold like blood and minerals, (page 72).

Her distinct voice and sound

Her voice is soothing and has the ability to heal. The hit track ‘Fetch your Life’ which she co-wrote with Prince Kaybee was the biggest song on SA Radio in 2019. On page 73, she shares that “the song became a rallying call, battle cry, lifeline and an inspirational mantra.”

We’re here for her ardent approach to activism

Msaki is the founder of ALTBK, a space focused on supporting independent musicians and cultural workers to expand their income streams. In her cover story, she also shares that she wrote songs as a response to painful events unfolding in South Africa, (page 74). We’re here for her contribution to social impact through her craft.

She’s on a winning streak

Her impressive list of accolades includes SAMA nominations, and awards including an honorary Grammy Award for her feature on Black Coffee’s album. It’s also worth noting that she recently bagged 2 awards at the SAMAs 2022 for Best Female of the Year and Best Adult Contemporary Award. Congratulations are in order for our cover star!!!
