Looking every bit of a doll herself, Taylor Swift appeared at Toy Story 5 premiere in Los Angeles, in a look that held a sweet, subtle sartorial detail in tribute to her favourite cowgirl.
Swift opted for Erdem: a mini-dress from the autumn/winter 2026 collection which features a strapless bodice adorned with bows and strips of varying floral fabrics, falling into a sculptural skirt with raw, unfinished hems. (It felt just the right side of romantic and nostalgic, a look plucked from designer Erdem Moralioglu’s 20th anniversary show and a collection that “mashed up” all of his own personal and historical inspirations.)
The musician forwent the runway styling and wore a pair of taupe satin Alevi Milano sandals. As for jewellery: a Selim Mouzannar ring, Miraki oval tennis bracelet and, of course, her Kindred Lubeck engagement ring from fiancé Travis Kelce. (Who wasn’t present last night.)
A more surprising accessory? In lieu of a purse, her own original Toy Story movie VHS tape, which she asked stars including Tom Hanks and Joan Cusack to sign. She wore her signature red lip and flick of eyeliner, a thick set of bangs, and her dark blonde hair long and straight in a braided, half-up, half-down hairdo.
Swift also wore an antique diamond Sophie Jane horseshoe necklace; a low-key, delicate tribute to her favourite character, Jessie. The last time she wore the necklace was on a night out in April dining in New York, where she also curiously – and unbeknownst to everybody at the time – wore the Toy Story film’s familiar colours of blue, yellow and red. This was just before her contribution to the movie’s soundtrack was announced, so it seems like Swift was up to her usual tricks, adding Easter Eggs to her looks.
Method dressing hasn’t been a major part of the Toy Story 5 press tour so far, but new cast addition Greta Lee has been embracing all things whimsical and joyful her way: a star-studded High Sport dress, a canary yellow Giovanna Flores dress, a prettily patterned Yvonne co-ord. At last night’s premiere, she wore a drapey red and white dress from the Dior spring/summer 2026 couture show.
Later in the evening, Swift gave a surprise performance of her song from the official Toy Story 5 soundtrack, “I Knew It, I Knew You”. A curtain pulled up to reveal the singer at a piano, wearing a yellow and floral embroidered Oscar de la Renta gown.
Swift performed a second time singing “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” alongside Randy Newman, who took over on the piano.
The song, which was released last Friday, is written from Jessie’s perspective. Swift posted a video of herself as a child in her own cowgirl get-up to go with the new track: “Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time. Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once. And being a [Toy Story] kid from the age of five til now… is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”
While she must be deep in wedding prep, trust that Taylor Swift will never forget the sweetest details. We knew it, we know her!
