Teyana Taylor wins first Golden Globe after 20 years in entertainment

After two decades in the entertainment industry, Teyana Taylor has finally claimed her first Golden Globe, a milestone that marks a career built on talent, resilience, and versatility. Many first met Teyana on the iconic MTV Sweet 16, a celebration thrown by her record label at the time, hinting at the star she was destined to become. Since then, she has worn countless hats, singer, dancer, actor, choreographer, creative director, and proven herself to be far more than a triple threat.

Her Golden Globe win came for her supporting role in One Battle After Another, earning her the award for Best Supporting Female Actor in a Motion Picture. Making a striking entrance in a Schiaparelli asymmetrical cut-out bustier gown in draped black satin, complete with a scarf neckline and silver-rhinestone bijou thong, Teyana captivated the room before taking the stage.

In an emotional acceptance speech, she honored the people who have supported her journey and sent a powerful message to Black and Brown women and young girls: “Our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. And our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter. Our dreams deserve space.”

In One Battle After Another, Teyana stars alongside industry heavyweights, (Sean Penn, Leonardo Dicaprio, Regina Hall) holding her own and demonstrating why she is a force in Hollywood. Her Golden Globe is more than just an award, it’s a testament to her perseverance, multifaceted talent, and the barrier-breaking impact she continues to have in entertainment.
