A recap of SA Fashion Week AW23

Over three days 27 designers showed their new autumn/winter 2023 collections at SA Fashion Week. SA Fashion Week recently took place at the Mall of Africa in Johannesburg. From vibrant colours, unique abstract prints, tailoring and tiered dresses, collections from Michael Ludwig Studio, Fikile Sokhulu, DROMe and Munkus were a sight to behold.

MICHAEL LUDWIG STUDIO

A collection of effortless tailoring, bright pastel abstract prints of mahogany red, orange, pistachio green and navy, orange dresses and frilled dresses in cerulean. The colours work so well together and the unique abstract print is distinctly Michael Ludwig.

FIKILE ZAMAGCINO SOKHULU

Voluminous puff sleeves, gold and white tiered dresses, a green jacket and lots of blossoming ruffles. The ‘Cruz Collective’ collection was delicate, whimsical, feminine and impeccable. With organic and flowing silhouettes, tassels, fringes and ruffles the collection was a breath of fresh air.

DROMe

A minimalist collection with oversized tailored boxy blazers, zips, straps, silver, low-slung wide legged denim and upcycled leather. Belted leather bralettes with a matching belt, a low cut leather coat and an interesting studded denim skirt with a double denim belt. DROMe’s collection echoed Prada’s boxy blazers and was effortlessly cool.
