Claire Mawisa weds in Cape Town: A bohemian and Xhosa wedding celebration

South African media personality Claire Mawisa has tied the knot, celebrating love with a wedding that beautifully blends her cultural roots and personal style. Hailing from Gugulethu in Cape Town, it’s perhaps fitting that the ceremony took place on a beach overlooking the city, a nod to her hometown and its stunning coastline.

Claire shared intimate moments from the wedding on Instagram on October 8, 2025, captioning one post, “And so the adventure begins,” alongside her husband, whose details remain largely private. Steering away from traditional wedding attire, she opted for a Bohemian-inspired look, wearing a flowing white satin gown with an open back.

Her outfit was complemented by a custom-made cowrie shell headpiece designed by Elizabeth Morr, featuring mixed metals and mother-of-pearl details that carried both personal and cultural symbolism. In a playful twist, Claire and her husband completed the look with matching Comme des Garçons Play Converse sneakers, blending elegance with modern flair.

Adding another layer of cultural pride, the bride later shared a second look in traditional Xhosa attire. The ensemble featured a dress from Salizwa Collections, a doek from Clare B Accessories, and a necklace and ncebetha from Beaded Nation. She captioned the photo simply: “A Xhosa bride,” embracing her heritage with pride.
