Bonang Matheba has officially taken her reign as Africa’s most formidable host to the international stage, and she did it with unmistakable presence. Touching down in Vietnam as the host of Miss Cosmo 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The South African media personality and entrepreneur was announced early in November as the official host of the Miss Cosmo 2025 Grand Finale & Beauty Music Festival, a celebration that blends beauty, music and culture on an international platform.
The Miss Cosmo Organisation highlighted her as an “icon of African entertainment and global pageantry,” citing her seasoned career across television, radio, entrepreneurship and major live events as key to why she was chosen for this prestigious role
Sharing the stage Bùi Đức Bảo, Bonang brought balance, polish and charisma to the global pageant, effortlessly navigating a multicultural audience while grounding the show with her signature warmth and authority. It’s a skill she’s honed over years of hosting some of the continent’s most high-profile events, from Miss South Africa to major award shows, making pageantry a space where she doesn’t just belong, but leads.
True to form, Bonang served up an unforgettable fashion moment in Vietnam, delivering three show-stopping outfits designed by top African talents, two by Nigerian designers (Sheye Oladejo and Emagine by Bukolo) and one by a South African creator ( Biji Couture ) — a layered fashion narrative that mirrored the night’s fusion of global style and cultural celebration.
What made the moment particularly powerful was how seamless it felt. Bonang hosting an international pageant didn’t feel aspirational, it felt inevitable. With this appearance, she didn’t just represent South Africa; she expanded the possibilities of African excellence in global entertainment, proving once again that when Bonang steps onto a stage, the world pays attention.
