Matthieu Blazy unveils his second Chanel collection in New York City

For his second Chanel collection, Matthieu Blazy chose iconic New York City for the backdrop of the Métiers d'Art showcase. The setting was an abandoned subway station and the atmosphere mimicked that of a chaotic subway station with stylish commuters hurriedly going about their day and rushing to their next destination.

The setting might seem confusing for the not so knowledgable but founder Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel found refuge in the City that never sleeps. Equally, Blazy's love affair with the vibrant city started when he lived there during his tenure at Calvin Klein and following in the footsteps of the legendary Karl Lagerfeld who hosted his collections for the the french luxury brand in the city as well, solidifying the brands ties with it.

After Blazy's first presentation which was hailed as a resounding success, his second has been celebrated in much the same way. Each look was steeped in the house codes of tweeds and classic Chanel suits but with fresh and exciting twists for the modern woman. The Métiers d'Art show is a tribute to the various artisans and their craftsmanship for their contributions to each of the Chanel collections throughout the years. Each look was a testament to their skill. One example is the "student" in a pair jeans which resembled your classic denim but in actual fact was crafted from silk made using a technique by Lesage, one of the masterful ateliers in Chanel’s 19M hub. The flower details were meticulously crafted by Lemarié flower ateliers, the flower experts shape every petal with an embossing ball.

Matthieu now gears up for his Haute Couture presentations and we look forward to it with gleeful expectation.
