Zoe Modiga Hosts Intimate Listening Session for Fourth Studio Album The Vault

Zoe Modiga welcomed industry peers and loyal fans to an intimate listening session for her forthcoming fourth studio album "The Vault" in Johannersburg last night. The evening offered a first glimpse into a project she describes as both protective and expansive, a body of work rooted in memory, spirit and evolution.

A GLAMOUR Women of the Year 2023 recipient, Modiga arrived adorned in a striking blue, futuristic look embodying her alter ego, Rha, a concept she recently introduced through a series of cinematic visuals. Rha represents a multiversal, otherworldly extension of the artist: transcendent, bold and spiritually grounded. It signals a new era, one that honours her growth while pushing sonic boundaries.

With three critically acclaimed albums behind her,  Yellow: The Novel, Inganekwane and 2024’s Nomthandazo., Modiga has built a decade-long discography steeped in modern jazz, soul and South African traditional influences.

The Vault is expected to lean further into experimental and alternative textures while remaining true to her signature sound.

The session, attended by the likes of Muzi, Slikour, GLAMOUR's cover star and Sub-Saharan Africa ambassador for L’Oréal Paris Ama Qamata, Loyiso Gola and Mzukisi Mbane, felt both celebratory and sacred.Defining the album’s title, Modiga referenced the word “vault” as “a secure, often underground room for storing valuables; a burial chamber; to leap over an obstacle; the vault of heaven.” In her hands, The Vault becomes all of these, a sacred archive, a rebirth and a fearless leap forward.
